bars/pubs/clubs

Given that I'm now 18, I've had the vast pleasure of being able to drink. I know that many of the people on this platform have had this right for a long time, so I'm sorry that I'm about to sound like an overexcited kid who's just come back from kindergarten when I go on about this:

  1. I enjoy drinking. Not as much as some people I know, and definitely not enough to be dangerous (given that I have alcholism in my family). But I don't necessarily enjoy the taste of alcohol, and I find it arguably more disgusting in flavour when attempts have been made to cover it up, over just drinking it out of the bottle (also a terrible experience, but at least it's not trying to be anything else.) Being drunk is nice, but if I feel myself going too far, I will obsessively sober up until I think I can drink again. Unfortunately this means I am the designated parent at unparented house parties. Some of these people will drink until they pass out, then wake up and drink again. (I don't get it, I hope I never do)

  2. Bars, pubs and clubs are all very different in nature, despite their reputation as "places to go to drink." I knew this before I'd visited any, but it's kind of cemented itself to me now. At the moment, it seems like bars are for me. I'm not a party animal by any means, I enjoy dancing and having high-energy fun, but I usually go out with my mother, and I'd rather have fun somewhere familiar with friends, rather than spending extra to go out. I do want to meet more people, though, so maybe I'll (cough.) "hit up the clubs" when more of my close friends meet me in the realm of adulthood. Pubs are just full of 40+ drunkards who come in to watch the footy. Really not my thing. Also, I just don't really like beer.

  3. My favourite things at the moment alcohol-wise are:

I can't wait to look back on this post and go wow, what a naΓ―ve little Victorian boy, doesn't he know the greatest joy in life is Guzman Y Gomez + $7 Aldi wine after a long work shift?

Big love, Rei
