a few more musings
A shorter post, thankfully. I was considering putting a reviews section, for movies or books I've read recently, but then I realised that:
- I don't usually have a lot to say about a book or movie until I get to have an actual discussion about it with someone
- The last book and movie I felt sincerely impacted by were just negative as a result of my own psyche, not necessarily because of the author's intention or skill
- The last movie I felt compelled to review was a movie that I just really, did not like
I read the Bell Jar, and quit halfway through because I felt myself sinking a little bit too much into the logic of it, and I watched Girl, Interrupted and was fine until I saw Daisy Randone, and then at that point I was a shell of myself for the next five hours. I'm fine, but willingly putting myself into that wasn't the brightest idea. And it's also not good content for a letterboxd review!
Having said that, I've been really enjoying The Locked Tomb series recently. I'm halfway through my second rereading, and though it's a little complicated at times, it's writing style and application of textual form make it genuinely really fun to enjoy, even when it doesn't 100% make sense.
